Wednesday, we left Great Basin to drive to Truckee, CA, stop # 23 out of 23. We drove across Nevada on the loneliest highway, stopping only so Kevin could do in an important meeting and to have lunch by an old castle on a mountainside.
We arrived in Truckee to our good friends Dave and Ann’s place. They are currently staying in their airstream in their yard while their house gets finished so Dave had made a couple of trailer pads in one part of their yard near the garden. They also created a sweet playground in the trees. Basically, it was one of our best campsites, especially since it came with a couple of besties for the girls to play with! Scout was very happy to not have to be on a leash all day long.
I finally was able to introduce my childhood family friend Laura Abbey Brown and her family to Dave and Ann since they live in the same neighborhood. It was great to catch up with her and her husband Jeff!

Thursday, we let the girls play all morning and then we went to rinse off the Tahoe dust in the Truckee River. Scout swam so hard that she just flopped down and slept once we got home.
Today, we packed up and said our goodbyes. We grabbed some breakfast at Wild Cherries, always a favorite, and are now heading down the mountain to our own house! We are all so excited to see our kitties (thanks to our friend Jenna for keeping them safe and happy while we were gone!), sleep in our own beds, and enjoy our comfy house. Zoey said this trip gets 2,000 thumbs up and Quinn says she loved every stop! Hopefully, the memories will last a lifetime!
Trip stats: we travelled a total of 49 days, drove about 8,500 miles, listened to 11 books, passed through 28 states, stayed in 23 places, visited at least 8 National parks and many more state and regional parks, saw at least 20 amazing monuments, hung out with 23 family members that we wouldn’t normally get to see, and swam in 10+ rivers and lakes and 2 pools. We dealt with every type of weather, some that really challenged our trailer set-up, and we had 0 car/trailer issues along the way. Pretty successful trip if you ask me!
