June 25th-29th
We met Mike, Chase and Cohen in Daughters of the American Revolution (D.A.R.) state park campground, Vermont. It was a fun weekend of catching up with the cousins and playing on lake Champlain. After travelling for a couple of days the trailer battery was pretty low, and with the shade from the trees and clouds in Vermont, it was dead by the second morning. Kevin spent the morning taking the battery off of the trailer (which involved taking off the spare tire and bike rack first), and moving the solar panel with battery to a sunny spot to charge. By the time we got back from the beach, the battery was charged up.
Mike brought his trimaran sail boat with optional foot paddle power. Everyone had fun swimming and sailing on the lake. Chase caught a large mouth bass and Scout chased her new favorite toy, the orange buoy, into the lake over and over. When the kids started skipping rocks, Scout tried to chase them too. Eventually she brought a few rocks back from the bottom of the lake.
After a weekend of camping and boating we made our way down to Mike and Kathleen’s house in Bedford, Massachusetts. It was hot and humid, but the back yard pool and patio was a great place to beat the heat. The kids, adults, and Scout enjoyed swimming in the pool, and Mike showed off his pizza oven for dinner the second night. Linsey, Mike, and the kids visited the old north bridge and other revolutionary war era historical sites around Lexington and Concord.
We will see Mike, Kathleen, Chase, and Cohen in Washington DC in a few days after we stop of in Brewster, NY to visit Linsey’s cousin Susan.
