Larimore Family Adventures

Yellowstone, Tetons, and Jackson, WY

June 15, 2021 by Linsey Larimore

June 10th – June 14th

It was another long drive to get to our campground near the Gros Ventre River just outside of Jackson, WY. We stopped at the Crater of the Moon National Monument for a lunch break but the wind was so strong that the lunch meat kept flying off the sandwiches while I tried to assemble them. We rolled into our quaint camp site and since we were staying in one spot for 4 nights, we set up all our camp gear, even the shower!

Our first day in the area, we enjoyed a slow morning at camp and then went into Jackson in the afternoon. We had a nice lunch outside near the main square and checked out town.

Day two we spent driving into and around Yellowstone National Park. We saw Old Faithful erupt while having lunch. We even had to scamper out of the way when multiple bison walked right through the crowds! We also saw the Grand Prismatic Spring and it was spectacular. Zoey and Quinn named it the rainbow lake. The hot steam was blowing around and was quite shocking when it hit your face.

On our way back to camp, we drove through Grand Tetons National Park. What an awesome sight! Unfortunately, Scout was not allowed on the trails so we could not do a hike in the park so we soaked up the beautiful view.

Our last full day we spent hiking up to Ski Lake out of Wilson, WY. It was a 2 mile hike to the lake with patches of snow to play in along the way. Scout loved it all, swimming to her hearts content in the lake and rolling around in the snow along the trail. Zoey and Quinn were excellent hikers and ate plenty of snow along the way.

Monday morning came and we packed up and hit the road for our longest drive on the trip. We are off to South Dakota!
