Traveling to Boise ID

How many Daves can you spot?

After leaving Gualala, we had 2 days of driving to get to Kevin’s Uncle Stu and Aunt Jan’s house in Boise. The first day, we headed for Truckee, CA and camped at Martis Camp by the Truckee Airport. We rolled into our campsite and our good friends were there with some tasty take out dinner and some local beer. I couldn’t have been happier! The girls were so excited to get to play with their Tahoe besties and we got to enjoy a beautiful Tahoe sunset over the meadow.

That night, we did only the essential trailer set-up so we could get an early start in the morning. With the teardrop, we at least have to unpack all the gear inside so we can use the bed, pop out the rooftop tent for the girls, and set up Scout’s crate. I’m guessing that by the end of this trip, we will have the whole process mastered, but as for now, we are still figuring out how to get the set-up and take-down to be more efficient. It has been a fun challenge to figure out all the ins and outs of teardrop life!

In the morning, we got an early start and headed east into Nevada. The drive to Boise was long and somewhat boring. The highlight was the Mormon Crickets in McDermitt on the border of Nevada and Eastern Oregon. These crickets were huge and all over the place. It was like they had rained down during a bug storm! The ground at the gas station was covered with dead ones that had been squished by cars. Scout tried to play with the live ones as they clumsily jumped around. Stu said that sometimes there are so many dead ones on the road that the oily guts make the road like black ice. Crazy!

The Boise Larimore and Antoniuk clan gave us a warm welcome. We set up the trailer by Stu’s awesome barn/ cabinet shop/ RV parking/ sailplane storage that he built himself. We had a great dinner in the yard where our Scout played with the other dogs and Zoey and Quinn did gymnastics and ballet with Griffin and Elliot to entertain us.
